Wise Mind Nutrition has finally arrived!

Wise Mind Nutrition

The world was in quarantine, and although I was not depressed about it, I was concerned about the welfare of my community. I started conducting Zoom and FaceTime sessions with people all over the world and doing what I can to be helpful. I designed Wise Mind Nutrition for people with disordered eating related to depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, and body image disturbance. To share my latest work with my newsletter followers, I recorded a presentation that discusses trauma, nutrition for mental health, food addiction, treatment, recovery, and more.

When it comes to what we eat, most people may think about their outward appearance. I’ve put forth a lot of effort to change the narrative. Many people are interested in the topic of sugar addiction and I have so much to say about it. The Wise Mind Nutrition program is flexible for individuals with classic forms of disordered eating including those with an addiction-like relationship to food. It is for anyone looking to strengthen communication between their gut and brain, at the intersection of nutrition and mental health. Many tend to separate the mind from the rest of the body. But optimal health includes mental and emotional health too and it’s all connected! Our brains impact what we put into our bodies. Wise Mind Nutrition is a 30-day app-based program designed to use nutrition to improve mental health that will be available this summer! Moreover, we recruit the entire dimension of physical wellness to help you feel your best, and at-home in the body that you live in.

David became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in 2013 and founded Nutrition in Recovery, a group practice of RDNs specializing in treating eating and substance use disorders. In 2017, David received the “Excellence in Practice” award at the National Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo. The California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics awarded him the “Emerging Dietetic Leader Award” in 2020. He earned his Ph.D. from UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health in the Community Health Sciences department (with a minor in Health Psychology) by investigating the links between adverse childhood experiences and various mental health outcomes among socially disadvantaged men. His treatment philosophy is based on a biopsychosocial model which incorporates an understanding of biological mechanisms, psychological underpinnings, and contextual factors that integrate the social determinants of health. Wise Mind Nutrition's website offers a fully online interactive treatment program in Spring 2023.
